The structural load-bearing wall separating the kitchen and dining room is being meticulously removed while the structural supports we erected are in place. We worked closely with the local structural engineer, to ensure all structural steel and concrete implementations were adhered to at each stage.
The calculations and requirements for this structural solution were particularly robust in ensuring the level of structural support due to the load bearing down from the floors above in this period home. The bespoke steel was created and shuttered in place, post carefully propping the structural load. A cement pump was utilised to propel the cement through the property to the shuttered steel at the base of the newly formed opening. This was then allowed to set for a period of 7 days, before progressing to the vertical steel beams connected to the overhead steel beam required in the completion of this robust structural support.
